International Rose Test Garden A beautiful rose garden in Washington Park just to the east of downtown Portland, Oregon. The garden was established in 1917 and is operated by Portland Parks and Recreation. Volunteers care for the roses that are planted there, which include a large number of varieties. The garden affords a good view of the Portland skyline and, on clear days, Mt. Hood in the background. Roses tend to bloom in April when the weather starts to get sunnier and warmer. Parking can be difficult on sunny days, but the park is easily reachable via TriMet. The Japanese Garden is nearby and very well known. Links: http://portlandrosesociety.org/
